What types of roller garage doors can I choose from?

Understanding the different elements involved in a roller garage door and what drives the cost will help you decide where to invest and where you can save.

At its core, a roller garage door is made from narrow, horizontal, interlocking slats that roll up vertically into a compact box above the garage opening. This mechanism can be operated electronically via a remote and motor or manually.

Material & Insulation

Insulated roller garage doors like the Valuroll, Valuroll+, Secureroll are all manufactured from  twin walled, aluminium lath profiles with an advanced insulated foam core, to give strength, security and significantly reduce heat loss. But, when it comes to looks, that is entirely up to you.

Security Features

Each door style in the roller range at EasyFit is secure. They all benefit from a range of  innovative features, advanced technology and remote control options.  The Secureroll Classic 77mm lath door, has the “Secured by Design” accreditation for an internal face fix installation.  This is a police-backed project for ‘designing out crime’, roller doors which have this accreditation have been tested and proven to make life difficult for would-be burglars.

Installation Type

In terms of installation, there are a range of  types of installation to choose from.

  • Internal face fix
    • The guides are installed behind the opening with the roll fitted to the back of the lintel
  • Reveal fix
    • The door and guides fitted within the opening with the roll under the lintel
  • Half reveal for Guides
    • A mixture of internal face fix and reveal fix for the guides, where there is a pier on one side and a flush wall on the other.
  • External face fix
    • The door is fitted on the outside face of the garage so the box is visible from the outside.

What affects the price of a roller garage door?

As previously mentioned there are some slight differences and customisations between the different styles of door. Here is a full list of elements that will affect the price of a roller garage door.

Size

Before anything, the first thing to consider is size. As with anything, the price of your roller garage door is heavily dependent on the size required.

For Valuroll:

  • 55mm starts at £775
  • 77mm starts at £1,015

For Valuroll+:

  • 55mm starts at £950
  • 77mm starts at £1,065

For Secureroll

  • 55mm starts at £1,100
  • 77mm starts at £1,185

Style

In terms of style options, both Valuroll+ and Valuroll come in 20 different plain colours. A plain finish is a pre-applied paint bake which ensures a durable, long lasting appearance.

If you choose the Secureroll garage door, you can opt for the same 20 different plain colours,  or you can choose 1 of 9 woodgrain laminate options at a 20% surcharge. The laminate finish provides a textured finish to the outside of the lath.

Guides and box enclosure are colour matched to solid colours at no extra cost across the range of doors

For example, if your base Secureroll costs £1,200, woodgrain would add approximately £240.
