10 Creative DIY Hacks To Help Improve Your Home

Do you lack the ‘DIY’ knowledge required to carry out tasks around the home? We’ve put together 10 easy tricks that will make improving your homes appearance a walk in the park!

1. Use old door knobs for hanging towels

Simply attaching old door knobs to the wall is a quick and easy way of allowing you to hang your bath towels.

2. When you paint a room, put some extra paint in a small jar and keep it handy for quick touch-ups.

As simple as it sounds, having a small pot of paint at hand when decorating is a simple but yet effective way of touching up any areas you may have missed!

3. Hide your television wires in a shower curtain rod.

Available at any hardware shop, curtain rods work wonders when trying to hide unsightly TV wires that are exposed when your TV is mounted on the wall. Simply mount on the wall, feed the wire through the rod and out the bottom and hey presto the wires are out of site! (Will require removal of plug to feed the wire through)

4. Air Vents Looking Tired & Old?

Just a coat of spray paint will make old air vents look new again. Simply remove the vent (or tape off the areas around the vent) and use a tin of spray paint to bring your air vents back to life!

5. Peeling Wallpaper

With a knife, smear wallpaper paste onto a piece of writing paper. Rub the paper against the underside of the section that is peeling. Press the wallpaper firmly against the wall & then slide the writing paper out. Now simply smooth away the bubbles with a clean dry cloth.

6. Adding A Feature Wall That Really Stands Out

Feature walls are a great addition to any home. Make yours really stand out by wallpapering the chosen wall.  Choosing a high-quality thick paper will allow you to produce the best results easier.

7. Wine Racks Make Great Towel Holders

Using unused wine racks in your bathrooms can add a touch of class. They also make great towel holders & allow you too easily keep your bathroom clutter free.

8. Use Two Coat Hangers to Hang Your Ironing Board

Simply fix two old coat hooks to the wall. This will act as a ‘holder’ for your iron board and keep it upright and out of the way.

9. A Cheap CD Tower Turned Sideways Makes For A Great Bathroom Organizer

Have an old CD rack lying around? Simply turn it sideways, fix it to the wall and you instantly have a great way of organising your bathroom utensils.

10. Plastic Hangers Make Great Storage for Cords.

We all have unsightly wires somewhere around our homes. Grab an old coat hanger, wrap the wires round and your soon be wire clutter free!
